IMMUNOSUPPRESSION BEFORE CYCLOSPORINE Renal Transplantation

چکیده
The concept of liver transplantation is a relatively recent one. The first descriptions of liver replacement in experimental animals were published less than 25 years ago,I,2 and the first attempt at clinical liver transplantation was not made until March I, 1963.3 The pace of clinical trials remained limited until 1980, the year when the new immunosuppressive agent cyclosporine was introduced. In the following article, the way in which immunosuppress: on was developed before and after 1980 will be described, as well as the influence of other nonoperative factors that conspired to make liver transplantation practical. Surgical technical advances will be considered elsewhere in this issue of Seminars.

Role of Immunosuppression Minimization Protocols in Renal Transplantation
The subject of transplant immunosuppression has generated significant interest in recent years. Excellent immunosuppression, advances in surgical technique, post-transplantation care, and infection control have resulted in excellent outcomes. There is widespread support for the notion that the fundamental objective in transplant immunology should be the achievement of specific graft toleran...
متن کاملGlucose metabolism before and after conversion from cyclosporine microemulsion to tacrolimus in stable renal recipients.
BACKGROUND Tacrolimus is more diabetogenic than cyclosporine. However, this difference is only discernible in the first few months after renal transplantation. In randomized trials, investigating the effects of immunosuppression after renal transplantation, no increase in diabetes mellitus has been reported. However, no sensitive technique was used in these trials, so subclinical alteration of ...
متن کاملگزارش یک مورد گلیوبلاستوما در گیرنده 18 ساله کلیه از فامیل
Introduction: From 1986 to 2005, for 20 years about 2010 renal transplantations(TX) have been performed in our center mainly from unrelated kidney donor. Various bacterial, viral, fungal infections and malignancy after transplantation have been reported due to use of suppressive medications. After 20 years of experience with kidney transplantation in Iran, there are many reports of various ...
متن کاملUnusual manifestation of cutaneous Leishmaniasis in a renal transplant recipient
Cutaneous leishmaniasis may present as unusual manifestations in renal transplant patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy. This misleading presentation, may delay the diagnosis and treatment. Moreover special caution must be taken in renal transplant recipients because of possible interactions between antimony compounds and cyclosporine metabolites. We report a 45-year old man with 5 years...
متن کاملCyclosporine nephrotoxicity and early posttransplant hyperkalemia in living-donor renal recipients: report of 4 cases.
OBJECTIVES Hyperkalemia is an electrolyte disorder that may occur during the first few months after a renal transplant, in patients undergoing cyclosporine immunosuppression. We present our experience with cyclosporine-associated hyperkalemia in living-donor renal transplant recipients, with isolated clinically relevant hyperkalemia soon after surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS We report 4 living...
